The case against E-type donkey pronouns

On E-type analyses of donkey anaphora, pronouns denote definite descriptions within a situation-based semantics. I will review some well-known objections to the E-type strategy, objections with code names such as the formal link, sage plant sentences, and the bishop problem. In addition, I will discuss binding out of DP, which I will suggest provides strong evidence against an E-type analysis, and in favor of a garden-variety dynamic bound anaphora story.
