This year's Semantics Workshop of the American Midwest and Prairies (SWAMP 2009) will be held at the University of Chicago. We hope the following pages will be helpful in planning your travels and your stay here in Chicago. Feel free to email us at swamp2009chicago@gmail.com for any specific questions not addressed here. We look forward to seeing you in November!

Maps

A University of Chicago campus map can be found here. A map of Hyde Park can be found here.

Transportation

The University offers information on how to get to campus at this link. If you are travelling light, we suggest that you take advantage of Chicago's mass transit system, which is relatively inexpensive and reliable. You can plan your route using the RTA TripsWeb. Alternatively, cabs from O'Hare or Midway are plentiful; the cost is usually around $40. Once you're on campus, everything that you can't reach via mass transit or taxi cab, you can reach by foot. Visit our campus map page for more information.

Accomodations

Below are a few hotels we have recommended to visitors and conference-goers in the past. If you would like to get crash space with a graduate student during your stay in Chicago, please email with swamp2009chicago@gmail.com and put "crash space" in the subject heading.

Places to Eat and Things to Do

The University of Chicago Chicago Life website gives a wealth of information about Hyde Park. Although the site is specifically tailored towards students, it should be extremely helpful for everyone. The Chicago Traveler website has everything you might want to know about Chicago as a whole.
